Sonja Cristoph: An Artistic Journey from Florida to Lake Como

Sonja Cristoph, originally from Florida, has found her muse in the serene landscapes of Lake Como, Italy. Inspired by folklore, fairy tales, and the works of artists like John William Waterhouse, Frida Kahlo, Shel Silverstein, and Charlie Mackesy, Cristoph has developed a distinctive style that blends deep emotional resonance with rich narrative. Her work is a testament to her dedication to the art of storytelling through visual media.

Represented by the talented, young, and creative Elisa Egger, the youngest curator of the Venice Biennale and an intern at Christie’s, Cristoph continues to captivate audiences. Their collaboration recently brought the Garden Party at Lake Como, where Cristoph’s latest piece, “Alice’s Wonderland Visions,” was showcased. **Alice’s Wonderland Visions**

Created on commission for Siegeris School of Dance in Southwest London, “Alice’s Wonderland Visions” will serve as the show poster for their 2025 ballet performance inspired by the timeless tale of Alice in Wonderland. This marks the third show poster Sonja has crafted for Siegeris Dance, following her captivating designs for “Second Star to the Right,” a Peter Pan-inspired ballet at the South Wimbledon Theatre, and the 2022 show “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” inspired by The Wizard of Oz.

The Garden Party at Lake Como was not just an art exhibition; it was a celebration of beauty, elegance, and the power of narrative. Sonja Cristoph, with her unique artistic vision, and Elisa Egger, with her curatorial prowess, continue to captivate and inspire, proving that art is indeed a universal language that transcends borders and cultures. Their collaboration is a shining example of how dedication to one’s craft and a passion for storytelling can create moments of true magic.
